At SafeHaven, we believe that everyone has the ability to lead an enjoyable and fulfilling life.
As specialists in trauma-informed care, we understand how challenging it can be to find therapy that feels safe enough to fully engage with and realise your desired results.
That is why it is our mission to connect people with expert therapists & leading therapies to realise change.

We provide trauma-informed care, as described by Judith Herman.
Sessions throughout therapy will include all 3 stages of support:

There are many different theoretical frameworks in counselling and psychotherapy. You may have heard of some, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), or Humanistic Therapy like Person Centred Counselling, or EMDR.
As SafeHaven we are skilled in a wide range of approaches. Your therapist, as the professional, will collaborate with you to identify what approach may be best for you.
To keep things simple, we have described the five key categories of approaches that we provide.
What approach are you most drawn to?

The majority of traditional counselling and psychotherapy approaches fall under this heading as a 'talking therapy'. This would include CBT, person centred counselling, psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, couples or family therapy, etc.
Talking therapy is focused on identifying unhelpful patterns, resolving complicated emotions, and developing practical ways to better cope with the challenges a person is facing in life.
The key aspect of this approach is the client and the therapist sit across from each other and talk. The focus of the conversation, how the conversation is structured, and the activities a client will engage in will differ, according to the approach taken.
Somatic approaches to therapy involve prioritising the physical body and sensation as a way to identify, explore, and process difficulties.
At SafeHaven we use several different somatic therapies including somatic experiencing, craniosacral therapy, dance movement psychotherapy, and acupuncture.
During sessions you are guided to notice physical sensations —such as muscle tension, temperature changes, or the urge to shake or tremble. Depending on the somatic method being used, the therapist guides the gradual release of held tension to facilitate processing and support the body's natural healing process.

Creative therapies provide an opportunity for non-verbal expression, which then provides a spring board for discussion and exploration.
At SafeHaven we use both Sand Play and Therapeutic Art as methods by which a client can explore deeply held emotions, physical sensations, complex thoughts, and intuitive experiences. How these are represented becomes the foundation from which a client will then process, explore, and resolve internal dilemma's.

Equine assisted psychotherapy is an experiential approach to therapy. Sessions are outdoors in fields, or can be in an indoor arena. A therapist and an equine facilitator provide support and guidance through a series of ground based activities, where a client will watch, walk on foot around the horses and interact with them.
Equine therapy involves a mix of clinic-based sessions and sessions with horses. The aim is for the client to experience non-judgmental feedback from interaction with the horses, to learn to build trust, and to identify and overcome restrictive internal values and belief systems.

Nature therapy involves blending the physical benefits of movement with the emotional processing of talking and somatic approaches.
As well as a range of benefits to the body and brain with movement, there are added benefits to regulation of the nervous system by being connected to nature.
People who find this approach a significant help include those who may struggle to sit still, those who find being indoors difficult, and those who find they feel better when surrounded by nature.
